I think it was in '83, I was board in tower records one saturday night back in the day. this album cought my eye. as with many albums I grabbed back then, I looked at it for a few minutes and
put it my bomber jacket and just went outside to drink some maddog 20/20. with my
buddies. I didnt tell them I had the record.. for fear they would take it....I had it for a while.. but eventually someone
did take it. I loved this album! didn't know anything about it at the time.....and I still don't.

Nice to see some good ol' UK82 punk in the middle of all of this majoritarian of American HC. I don't really understand what kind of "buddies" would take this record, or much less, ANY record from you. But, I've sure come close to buying this record myself and I know I would murder anyone who so much as looked at it.
I think it's a shame that you've liked this record so long and are deprived of the background information on it; so I'll give a quick explanation of it to the best of my knowledge.
I believe this was #1 of 3 compilations put out by the Mau Maus on PAX Records. I've read somewhere before that the title of this record is a quote from Garry Bushell. In case you don't know who he is, he was the manager of some HUGE British punk bands of the 80's such as Blitz, the Cockney Rejects, and (I think) Angelic Upstarts. Also, he was also a member of the higly regaded Oi! band, The Gonads. In fact, you can even credit him for naming the "Oi!" genre. But yes, enough about him.
Punk Dead-Nah Mate was released in 1982 and had you went into Tower Records a year later, you might have also seen the follow-ups to this compilation. After Punk Dead-Nah Mate..., PAX Records released another compilation entitled "Bollox To The Gonads ~ Here's The Testicles". Being the average American, I have no idea where the title of this compilation came from or what it means. Although, I suspect that since it has "The Gonads" in the title that it may be another Garry Bushell reference. This compilation again included the Mau Maus on it, along with the only other returning bands, Xtract and Anti System. Regardless of the different bands, Bollox To The Gonads is still a great album and I highly recommend it if you like Punk Dead-Nah Mate.
The 3rd compilation in this series was the predictably oddly entitled "Daffodils To The Daffodils Here's The Daffodils". I believe I have a better guess at what this title comes from. On the first track before the Mau Maus kick off the album, there is a sound clip of what seems to be some man, talking about the "Bollox To The Gonads ~ Here's The Testicles" album. He says something to the effect of "If you replace the obscenities in the title with the word 'daffodils' then the title becomes 'Daffodils To The Daffodils Here's The Daffodils'". This sounds to me like it may have been on TV since he seemed to be trying not to cuss. I can imagine the Mau Maus hardpressed to come up with a name for their new compilation, and must have jumped on the opportunity of hearing this idiot speak about their previous releases. Truthfully, this is my favorite album of the 3. I feel it is one of the most well done international compilations ever. Truly an impeccable mix of worldwide hardcore sounds including of course the Mau Maus, the Finnish outfit The Destrucktions, Noncens from Sweden, flat out awesome songs by The Unjust from NYC, and even early material from UK trash metal legends Onslaught (when they still sounded kinda punk).

'Daffodils To The Daffodils Here's The Daffodils was named by john peel(bbc radio 1 dj) if i remember rightly,pax records also put out the wargasm comp too if you did,nt already know.the bollocks to the gonads comp included the entire savage circle 7in 2 instigators tracks not released anywhere else plus 2 crude ss not on the disgog cd i have ..anyhow cool blog
